Zikr on the Day of Arafah

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Rasulullah Sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam said:

"The best Dua is the Dua on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the Ambiyaa before me have said, is: 'There is no god except Allah; He is Alone and has no partner; to Him belongs the Dominion and to Him belongs all Praise, and He has Power over everything.'"

Virtues of Talbiyah

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Rasulullah Sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam said:

“When a Muslim recites Talbiyah, then verily everything from his right and left and every stone, tree and even the ground around him recite the Talbiyah with him to the ends of the earth and as far as he can see.”
[Tirmidhi]

Rasulullah Sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam said:

“Jibreel (Alaihis Salaam) came to me and said to me, Command your companions to raise their voices with Talbiyah; indeed it is from the symbols and signs of Hajj.”

Visiting the Graveyard

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

1.) Rasulullah Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “Visit the graves, for verily, the graves remind you of the Aakhirah (Hereafter).”

2.) Hadhrat Buraidah (Radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam would teach the Sahabah (Radhiyallahu ‘anhum) that, ‘When they enter the graveyard, they should greet its inhabitants with the following words, ‘Peace be upon the Believers among those in the graves, and surely through the will of Allah Ta’ala, we will soon join you. We ask Allah for (eternal) well-being for us and for you.’

[Sahih Muslim]

Similar versions of this Dua appear in different Hadith narrations.

3.) Rasulullah Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam used to visit the graveyard of Al-Baqi’ in Madinatul Munawwarah and make Dua for those buried there.

4.) Whenever Hadhrat Uthman (Radhiyallahu ‘anhu) stopped at a graveyard, he would weep so much that his beard would get wet. Someone once asked him: “You do not weep when you think of Jannah and Jahannam but weep when you think of the grave?”

He replied: “I have heard Rasulullah Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam say: ‘The grave is the first stage from amongst the many stages of the Aakhirah (Hereafter). If one is successful there, the later stages are easier. However, if one is unsuccessful there, the later stages will be extremely difficult.’ I have also heard Rasulullah Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam say that he had never seen a sight more frightening than that of the grave.”
